NEW SERIES!!!!!!!! AE Randolph presents:

Ever since the unfortunate end of the Radio Zero series at Sycamore Bar I've been patientlykeeping an eye outto start a  series.  During my day job delivering I've gone in and out of thousands of restaurants in all corners of NYC.  Only once have I heard Charles Mingus blasting from the speakers behind the bar at 730 in the morning.  That morning instead of hurrying back to my van I rushed upstairs and met Mark.  He's the fulcrum to this new series.  Big ups and go try his spot Extra Fancy Foods.  We spent the better part of two years exchanging records and stories.  He always said he wanted come hear me play.  I told him about my Standards projects and he said "you should get a weekly gig"  Not that he was offering up his space for that.  All the same with enough time and his support and working the phones he put me in touch with Cal @ RYE.  Now  the rest is present history.

Burgeoning TRIO

I'm very excited about some hard work in the studio on trio material.  I started, as I always do when composing, writing fragments.   Most everything I've written in the past year has been for MUTASM but these fragments were bothersome, troublesomely unwilling to be fit into my larger ensemble voice.  Couple that with my gut instinct to NOT write for the archetypal setting of tenor, bass, drums, and these fragments piled up and up.  LONG STORY SHORT  We're (Matt Nelson on tenor and Sam Ospovat on percussion) hard at work figuring out the subtleties and layers and look forward to putting it out there.  KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR IT
